AO Asia Pacific offers in collaboration with the AO Foundation three types
of fellowships. The international fellowship is one where an applicant from
Asia Pacific gets the opportunity to have a fellowship outside Asia Pacific at
an overseas fellowship unit. Besides, there is the regional fellowship, where
an applicant gets the opportunity to study at a fellowship unit within the
region of Asia-Pacific. For both, international and regional fellowship, the
application form of the AO Foundation has to be submitted.
The third fellowship is called starter fellowship. It enables young promising
orthopaedic surgeons from Asia to travel to regional fellowship units in Asia
and gain first-hand experience to practical and surgical management of
musculo-skeletal injuries. All fellowship applications should be submitted by
the applicant himself / herself to the AO Asia Pacific Office. The applicant of
a starter fellowship should come from a country without an AO course program
and not be holder of an AO Principles Course certificate.
