Criteria for selecting bibliographic information for Traumaline™

Trauma related articles are selected for inclusion by:

1. Searching MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine’s premier bibliographic database 

2. Reviewing the tables of contents from the following trauma journals:

  • Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (AM)

  • Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (BR)

  • Injury

  • Journal of Trauma

  • Journal of Orthopedic Trauma

  • Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research

  • Journal of Hand Surgery (BR)

  • Journal of Hand Surgery (AM)

  • Hand Clinic

  • Foot Ankle International

  • Journal of Foot Ankle Surgery



The following criteria are used to determine which articles are included in Traumaline™:

Inclusion

  • Clinical research of therapy, prognosis or diagnosis

  • Reviews that are clinical in nature

  • Articles that contain an abstract

 

Exclusion

  • Biomechanics

  • Joint arthroplasty

  • Spinal conditions

  • Case-reports of 5 or fewer patients

  • Animal or human cadaver studies

  • Personal or expert opinion



Traumaline™ bibliographies will include 

  • Study citation of title, journal and author

  • Study Type (therapy, prognosis or diagnosis)

  • Class of evidence rating* (see tables below)

  • A summary of information following

    • PICO acronym (patient, intervention, control group and outcome) for articles of therapy

    • PPO (patient, prognostic factors and outcome) for articles of prognosis

    • DSO (diagnostic procedure, standard, outcome) for articles of diagnosis

  • Authors’ conclusions
