Midfoot - Cuboid, crush

back to Foot overview

Glossary

General considerations

This uncommon fracture is a result of extreme lateral column shortening. Surgery is needed to reestablish length and balance for the foot. Occasionally this presents with sever midfoot trauma such as Lisfranc fractures.

In cases where the comminution does not allow single-bone osteosynthesis, bridge plating or an external fixation construct are indicated.

ORIF - plate fixation
