Patient preparation

Patient preparation

In most instances the patient is placed in a supine position with slight neck extension.

Nasal intubation is preferred, to minimize mouth distortion. Long acting paralysis agents are not used.

Intraoperatively, nerve monitoring and nerve stimulators can be used.
