A long multifragmentary diaphyseal fracture of the 5th metatarsal usually results from high energy torsional injury.
There is usually swelling and bony tenderness over the lateral border of the forefoot.


Imaging

Diagnosis is confirmed by AP, lateral and oblique x-rays.
