Wedge fractures of the humerus with a spiral wedge fragment are classified as 12-B1 fractures.
Fractures in the proximal third of the humerus (12-B1.1) may extend up to the humeral neck.
Fractures in the distal third (12-B1.3) usually heal quickly because of the broad fracture surface, but will have to be reduced anatomically.
In all 12-B1 fractures the radial nerve is at risk.
