Main indication: Undisplaced and stable on initial arthrography

Skill: Basic surgical experience, no specialized skills
Equipment: Basic equipment only

Indications

  • Undisplaced and stable fractures on initial arthrography
    Note: It is difficult to diagnose the initial displacement without an arthrogram and it may be impossible to detect secondary displacement with plain follow-up x-rays alone

Contraindications

  • Displaced fractures
  • Secondary displacement
  • Associated elbow instability (a common occurrence)

Advantages

  • No anesthesia
  • No implant
  • No scar

Disadvantages

  • Requires specialized knowledge (refer if necessary)
  • Malunion or nonunion is possible
