Cast immobilization (long)

Short or long arm cast

Main indication: Virtually undisplaced injury in compliant child

Skill: Basic surgical experience, no specialized skills
Equipment: Basic equipment only

In younger children and in the face of noncompliance, a long arm cast is safer than a short arm cast.

Contraindications

  • Noncompliant parents/carers
