Closed reduction; cast immobilization (short or long)

Closed reduction; Long arm cast

Main indication: Displaced injuries

Skill: Basic surgical experience, no specialized skills
Equipment: Basic equipment only

Contraindications

  • Patients seen later than 7 days after the injury
  • Local soft tissue compromise including open fractures

Advantages

  • Maintains the reduction using three-point molding principle

Disadvantages

  • Requires skilled practitioner
  • Need for more frequent monitoring
