Pediatric distal forearm 23u-E/2.1

Splint

1. Introduction

This is a rare injury.

If there is diagnostic doubt, screening by image intensification can be useful.

2. Splint application

If this fracture is undisplaced and the patient and parents/carers are compliant, it can be managed with a removable splint, which is retained until symptoms resolve (2-3 weeks, depending on age).

3. Follow-up

Follow-up is not necessary, but parents/carers are advised to return if symptoms deteriorate or fail to improve over a period of 1-2 weeks.

Rapid return to normal function should be expected.
