Glossary

The dorsal approach is indicated for oblique, spiral, comminuted, or transverse fractures of the diaphysis and metaphysis of metacarpals.

Dorsal approach to metacarpals

The dorsal approach is indicated for oblique, spiral, comminuted, or transverse fractures of the diaphysis and metaphysis of metacarpals.

The dorsal approach is indicated for oblique, spiral, comminuted, or transverse fractures of the diaphysis and metaphysis of the second metacarpal.

Dorsal to 2nd metacarpal

The dorsal approach is indicated for oblique, spiral, comminuted, or transverse fractures of the diaphysis and metaphysis of the second metacarpal.

The dorsal approach is indicated for oblique, spiral, comminuted, or transverse fractures of the diaphysis and metaphysis of the fifth metacarpal.

Dorsal to 5th metacarpal

The dorsal approach is indicated for oblique, spiral, comminuted, or transverse fractures of the diaphysis and metaphysis of the fifth metacarpal.

This approach is used for intraarticular fractures of the fifth metacarpal base, fracture dislocations of the fifth carpo-metacarpal joint, and for tendon avulsion fractures of the extensor carpi ulnaris.

Dorsal to base of 5th metacarpal

This approach is used for intraarticular fractures of the fifth metacarpal base, fracture dislocations of the fifth carpo-metacarpal joint, and for tendon avulsion fractures of the extensor carpi ulnaris.

This approach is indicated for extraarticular fractures of the neck of the fifth metacarpal, if intramedullary wire fixation is performed.

Dorso-ulnar to 5th metacarpal

This approach is indicated for extraarticular fractures of the neck of the fifth metacarpal, if intramedullary wire fixation is performed.

This approach is indicated for intraarticular fractures of the metacarpal head, injuries of the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) collateral ligaments (either avulsion fractures or ligament ruptures), and intra- or extraarticular fractures of the base ...

Dorsal to the MCP joint

This approach is indicated for intraarticular fractures of the metacarpal head, injuries of the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) collateral ligaments (either avulsion fractures or ligament ruptures), and intra- or extraarticular fractures of the base of the proximal phalanx.
