Glossary

General considerations

This complex fracture requires great care in investigation and treatment. They may present in many types depending upon the forces applied to the foot. Ligamentous injuries may be best treated with primary fusion while bony injuries  are best treated internal fixation. Late presentation may necessitate fusion.

Indications

  • More than 2 mm of separation between second metatarsal and medial cuneiform
  • Bony or ligamentous injury
