Supine position
Supine position enlarge

Place the patient supine on the operating table. Position the arm on an arm board and abduct ca. 60 degrees, or more, if necessary, to relax the deltoid muscle.

During the procedure, the arm can be adducted across the body for posterior pin insertion, if required.

An X-ray film can be positioned under pads behind the humerus.

If image intensification will be used, any table extension must be radiolucent, or positioned appropriately.
