Proximal forearm

back to skeleton

Prone position
Prone position enlarge

The patient lies prone with the arm on a radiolucent support, or (as illustrated) on a padded post. Either gives maximum freedom to approach the elbow.

Prone position enlarge

The forearm should be in a position so that it can be flexed beyond 100 degrees.

A small padded table can be placed under the forearm to support the elbow in extension when necessary.

A tourniquet about the proximal arm is optional.
