Prior to the complete investigation of the patient, including X-ray, the patient is completely undressed, visually inspected, and the following measures made to prevent hypothermia:

  • All IV liquids are warmed to 40°C prior to administration
  • Room temperature is raised to 28°C
  • Warm covers are used to prevent loss of body heat
  • The patient's skin should be dry and cleaned of blood, and ultrasound gel.
